In 2013, when Aileen Lee, founder of Cowboy Ventures, coined the term Unicorn to refer to technology startups with valuations over US$1 billion, India had none. Fast forward to 2021 and India is home to a whopping 34 unicorns, and 52 soonicorns with a potential to become unicorns by 2022.

India, the world’s second largest startup ecosystem, touching a total of 55,000 startups by the end of 2020, is poised for disruption. India has shown a great appetite for technology, data and the internet. The internet paved the way for thousands of startups to rise over the past decade, address unique problems, transform entire industries and create new segments.

In this panel we will discuss some tales of triumph, some challenges faced and some emerging trends of the startup ecosystem.
